Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) ek aisi manufacturing process hai jisme electricity ke sparks (chhoti si bijli ke chamak) ka use karke metal ya conductive materials ko shape diya jata hai ya unhe cut kiya jata hai.

Isme ek tool (electrode) aur workpiece ke beech mein ek chhota sa gap hota hai, aur is gap mein high-voltage electric sparks paida kiye jate hain. Yeh sparks material ko melt ya vaporize karke usse hata dete hain, jisse precise shapes ya intricate designs banaye ja sakte hain.

Kaise kaam karta hai?

  • Tool aur workpiece dono conductive hone chahiye (jaise steel, aluminum).
  • Dono ke beech ek dielectric fluid (jaise oil ya deionized water) hota hai, jo sparks ko control karta hai.
  • Jab electric current chalta hai, toh sparks banta hai jo material ko thodi thodi quantity mein erode (khatam) karta hai.
  • Isse bohot accurate aur complex shapes banaye ja sakte hain, jo normal machining se mushkil hote hain.
